Altcoins

Altcoins are cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin. The term "altcoin" is short for "alternative coin," and it encompasses a wide variety of digital currencies that were developed after Bitcoin’s launch in 2009. Altcoins aim to improve upon or offer different features compared to Bitcoin, addressing perceived limitations or introducing new functionalities. They include a diverse range of projects, such as those that focus on specific use cases, such as Ethereum for smart contracts, Litecoin for faster transactions, and Ripple for cross-border payments. Altcoins can vary greatly in terms of technology, market capitalization, use cases, and community support.
